Cynthia is the founder and former CEO of True Colours, and a Nurse Specialist.  After stepping down as CEO in June 2025, she has returned to the Board as a trusted advisor and mentor, and still supports a handful of clients at True Colours.

She has nursed for many years, specialising in the care of children who require palliative care since 2000.  Cynthia completed her Masters with a focus on what was important for the child who lives with a life-threatening illness. More recently she completed her PhD with the focus on what model of care is important for children with serious illnesses and their families.

Cynthia’s vision is that all children and young people in New Zealand who live with serious health conditions, along with their families have appropriate support to enhance their quality of life. Nursing and psychological care based on the Te Whare Tapa Wha model (holistic care)is critical to minimise some of the stressors illness can have on the individual and relationships within the family unit.
